Treading water to keep my head above with all the rest,
Tiring, exhausting, gasping for air but inhaling water.
Choking, panicking, the realization of a battle lost,
and ideas of pride in dignity comes to me.

One last breath, and i let it go; slowly sinking beneath them.
With panic gone from me, my eyes open.
A murky blue, rippled images seen through wet distances,
beauty unimaginable whilst treading the surface.

Diving deeper i see more clearly than i ever did before,
Breathing easier than i ever did with air.
My lungs expand and the further i sink the higher i float.

Dreams once buoyant as driftwood sink with purpose
much like an anchor in search of a seabed,
pulling me down with them.
